Architectural books donated to N.B. libraries.
Public libraries and bookmobiles in New
Brunswick will soon have copies of what architects believe
to be one of the most important books written about
architecture in the province.
The Architects’ Association of New Brunswick (AANB) has
donated 65 copies of ‘Building New Brunswick: An
Architectural History,’ by Fredericton architect and
historian John Leroux, to the New Brunswick Public Libraries
Foundation (NBPLF). |

New Brunswick: An Architectural History’ to the Honourable
Donald Arseneault, Minister of Post-Secondary Education,
Training and Labour (center) and New Brunswick Public
Libraries Foundation Treasurer, François Levert (right). The
books will be distributed to public libraries in the next
few weeks. |

“The Libraries Foundation works towards
securing partnerships with various individuals and
organizations, resulting in an increase in the funds and
resources for public libraries and bookmobiles in NB,” said
The Honourable Donald Arseneault, Minister of Post-Secondary
Education, Training and Labour, who is responsible for
public libraries and bookmobiles.
“We are proud of the partnership with the Architects’
Association of New Brunswick and thankful for their donation
of this richly illustrated resource,” he added.
AANB President, Saint John architect Malcolm Boyd said,
“What John Leroux does is take us on a journey of images
from early settlements through to the 21st century. It is a
collection of our very fabric. If you want to know about the
impact of architecture in New Brunswick, this is a resource
to begin your search. We are pleased to have partnered with
the New Brunswick Public Libraries Foundation on this
project and our Council felt it should be available to the
people of New Brunswick through the public libraries and
bookmobiles.”

Building a career in
architecture "Darroch
White" |
|
Darroch White claims to have been the
first person to see many of
Fredericton's landmarks - at least on
paper.
The architect, who works with BGHJ
Architects in
Fredericton, has had a hand in designing and
planning many of the buildings we walk by everyday,
including the St. Mary's Commercial Centre, Clark's
Chevrolet, projects at the University of New
Brunswick, and the Salvation Army
building on the north side.
